What should have been a simple musical activity, soon ended up being a completely different story for Lucenda, a young R&B singer. In January 2004, at the age of 13, Lucenda records « Bouncin’» which turned out to be the first release of her first album « Mon Agenda». Despite her young age, Lucenda’s attitude and professionalism quickly catch the eye of DownShow Productions, then looking for new talent. They are so impressed with Lucenda that they decide to make her their primary artist.
Two videos were born from this first album: « L’Alarme » and « Elle et toi ». These, simply thrilled her audience and, along with her one-of-a-kind performances, caused Lucenda’s fan club and popularity to increase considerably. Knowing that success without honesty is too futile and useless, Lucenda shows her integrity by revealing her authenticity, convinced that it is what the public thirsts for.
Lucenda believes that youngsters sometimes lack models on which they can get advice through songs. So, although the image of « violence » and « sexual provocation » are very present in videos, it is her love for music and dancing that Lucenda wants to spread. The first single, « Simple », of her second album expresses these facts. It says that « you don’t have to play gangster to be on the flow or be like the ladies in the videos» to assert yourself.
In the same wavelength, while establishing the marketing strategy of her second album, Lucenda proposed to solidify her position by creating a project called « A chill summer », an anti-violence propaganda. This initiative got her and DownShow Productions the grants for «Promising New Artist» and «Cultural Business of 2007» given by MRC Roussillon.
Today, two years after the launch of her first album, Lucenda, still charming, comes back with her new CD « Simple, Sweet & Street ». This album encloses 11 songs that are sure to get you off your seat! The video of her first title « Simple» is already the object of a lot of requests.
Catchy words, sung with her sweet and warm voice, supported by tearing beats form a unique ensemble that fits her wonderfully! Lucenda’s style is unusual, it is characterized as urban but swings between R&B and rap from French to English with an ease that simply sets her apart. Add to that her dance steps … it’s to die for! And the whole is called Lucenda.
